Chillaxin' In The Moonlight

Today, straight after Jamie finished school we were Glendo bound for an evening session and our last climbing session with our good buddy Hari before he goes home to Austria, gonna miss that dude :( we had good fun crushing together for the last 6 or 7 weeks, mabye a trip to some Austrian boulders in the future !? Hari's friend Berni was over for a visit to Ireland and was busy flashing everything he could get his hands on, he flashed Back To Black 6C in Glendasan (which he thought was a fantastic line), Chillax and Chillax Left amongst others.

As soon as we reached the boulders we had a chat with the lads, put our shoes on and then the clouds burst with a heavy shower of rain which lasted about ten minutes, shit buzz, bad timing, we hung out under Howard's Roof and ate biscuits and debated whether or not we should go home. I wanted to have a work session on The Cherry 7A, the holds under the roof were dry so I warmed up and got to work, after 40 mins and a good finger work out for me we headed up to Chillax 6C as Jamie wanted to do it and Chillax Left 7A. Luckily we got a headtorch off the lads before they went as night soon arrived and we had ourselves a night bouldering session, it's bags of fun climbing in the dark :) All we had was one head torch, even that amount of light is enough to illuminate a project and go for it !
Jamie Beasting Chillax Left 7A
Jamie set to work on Chillax and was determined to get it done as he had a few sessions on it a while ago and couldn't get the heel hook move to work for him. This time around he threw his toe up onto the heel hook position and bumped his toe up into a heel, it wasn't in the right spot but he found the balance point with the flag and got it too stick, he bumped up his right hand dropped his heel and put all his remaining energy into the campus move ... Boo Ya ... he latched the jug and fought his way through the top out, it was a good fight and a good send on a problem J was having a mental block with.

I had a go on Chillax and quickly repeated it, I did it with the heel hook method for the first time and it felt cool, I also quickly repeated Chillax Left, feeling solid and strong on it, the night time and the wind had sucked the heat from the boulder and the friction felt deadly. Jamie got psyched after seeing my sequence and he started to work on it too. It didn't take him long to work the moves and tweak the sequence a bit before he started from the bottom and beasted it. He had a good flow going and hit every move perfect, I had to keep switching the light beam from his hands to the footholds and back again, he danced up the rock like the shadows all about us. We both agreed that Chillax Left is awesome and is our favourite over the original Chillax line. There was a full moon in the sky, it was so bright it was casting long dark shadows and lit up the whole valley and the trail for our hike out. It was a beautiful sight !! There was zero midge present for the whole eve, I think they are gone ... thanks be to jaysus :)Another epic Glendo session
