J and I took a trip out to Wicklow town this evening with hopes for finding some nice steep coastal bouldering within an hour from home. There was a P.D.F guide made up for it a while back by the guidebook maestro Dave Flanagan. The
Irish bouldering guide is now available to download for only 5 euros, awesome guide, great bargain. The coast is lovely, we strolled along the path at the top of the small sea cliffs spotting the wildlife and checked out all the coves and beaches listed in the guide, it would be a sweet location to boulder if there was any nice bouldering ... but unfortunatley we both thought the rock and problems looked shite and to top it all off it was also seeping loads. Deffo not our cup of tea. So we won't be going back any time soon. On the way home we went up the hill in Glendasan to check out the Tank boulder, what a quality stone, we gazed at the problems and remarked ''Jaysus Gaskins and Duffy are beasts !!'' Next recon mission is to the cave in Howth ...
The Locals
The seepage is a pain alright but there is some good bouldering there. Did you check out Stuck Cove and Seal Beach?
ReplyDeleteYeah man we had a look at everything, we weren't into it, we chuckled thinking about you being stuck in the cove, I think the pebbles and sand could have been mental high too
ReplyDeleteIts no Larry The Goats !!
