I have been a right big gym rat lately. I hadn't climbed or done anything outdoors since I got home from Albarracin in October. So I decided things had to change for the new year. I got my mountain bike fixed up and have been having great craic getting back into it after 3 years off the trails. There are so many new trails which have been built by Coillte since I stopped biking, I can't wait to try them all out. I had an epic days riding at Ballinanstoe in 70 kph winds earlier in the week, I am checking out the new 3rock trail tomorrow and hopefully the big trail center at Ballyhoura in Limerick after that. All this renewed biking fervour should be great for the fitness and have a positive impact on my climbing :)
Also got out and about down bouldering in Glendalough today. It was nice and dry, savage windy and the friction was mintastic !! Calliam, my little bro and his two mates Daragh and Adam came along. It was great to see Darragh and Adam enjoying their first ever day on real rock after getting into climbing at the Gravity center with us for the last couple of months. They had a look of awe and heads full of wonder taking in the sight of so many boulders in such a beautiful valley. I warmed up on some slabs, did a few probs at the path, Base Camp Traverse and Howard's Roof amongst others then headed over to Big Jim, had a good tussle with Barrys Problem 6c, latched the first move, I smell blood, can't wait to get back to it, super day in Glendo :)
