I have been priviliged enough in my time to have visited both Albarracin and and Fontainebleau. These were dream bouldering venues that I REALLY wanted to go to at the time and they both lived up to their expectations. So I am looking for ideas here where are other peoples dream bouldering destinations ?? and it can't be somewhere you have been already ...
This is my new dream destination Hueco Tanks in Texas. It looks absolutely amazing and packed full of featured low ball roofs ... my idea of bouldering heaven :) I vow to go here one day to soak up the beauty and the bouldering !!
Second behind Hueco is Squamish. I love bouldering on granite and I have had my eye on this venue as a dream bouldering destination for ages. It looks so good :) I love this video of Squamish and the choon in it is pure class too ...
Most people I meet from Ireland seem content to just go to Font for their bouldering holidays and I am sure there is loadsa stuff to do there for years but I think they should branch out a little, isn't it way more exciting to go visit new areas or less visited areas and areas your mates have never been too ?? The new Bouldering In Ireland guide has me really psyched to visit loadsa out of the way unpopular bouildering areas around Ireland that I have never been to, the areas documented which have stood out the most for me are the boulders down in Kerry, Larry the Goats in Waterford and Doagh strand in Donegal, all lovely looking, unexplored by me and steep bouldering venues right here in my own country :) Sweet
Rocklands south africa! It looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteAw yeah Tim !! Rocklands looks fantastic, I'd say you'd really want a 3 month trip over there :)
ReplyDeleteGood recommendation Tim - was on my list also :)
ReplyDeleteI've heard Bishop is the place to go over Hueco from American friends - Heuco is very good, but Bishop is even better.
If you're psyched for granite, why not get over to Cresciano and Chironico in Switzerland - been there a few times and it's amazing.
If you want a bit more obscure, try Annot in southern France (Good in Spring or Autumn). A huge bouldering area on Font-style climbing (steeper though) and off the beaten track!
